Romans 10:9-10
9
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart
one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
John 3:16

Ephesians 2:8-10
8
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing;
it is the gift of God
9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
10 For we
are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared
beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Romans 10:13
For everyone who calls believes on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Note
Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God
prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Note
1 Peter 3:18-22
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that
he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the
spirit, in which he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison, because they
formerly did not obey, when God's patience waited in the days of Noah, while the
ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought
safely through water. Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as
a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience,
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the
right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to
him.
Ephesians 2:8-9
8
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing;
it is the gift of God,
9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Acts 16:31
And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your

James 2:14-26
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have
works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and
lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and
filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?
So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will
say, You have faith and I have works. Show me your faith apart from your
works, and I will show you my faith by my works. ...
1 John 5:13

the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone
who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his
works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so
that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.
Matthew 7:21-23
Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven,
but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many
will say to me, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out
demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name? And then will I
declare to them, I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.

will live because of Me. 58 This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as
your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live
forever.”59 These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.

Romans 5:8-9
8
But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died
for us.
Believing on Christ
and calling upon Him are in effect the same thing (Rom.
10:9-13).
Calling upon God presupposes faith in Him,
and if one has faith he will call upon God in all times of need.
b [Lord] Paul uses the Greek:
Kurios
(GSN-<G2962>),
for the Hebrew
Yahweh (HSN-<H3068>)
of Joel 2:32,
proving that Jesus of
Rom. 10:9 is
called Yahweh. Thus there was more than one Yahweh in the Old Testament (Gen.
19:24).
Compare Ps. 110:1
with Mt. 22:44;
Acts 2:34 where
the same Greek word is used of both God and Christ in the SeptuagYahweh.
In John 10:10, Jesus said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to
kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might
have it more abundantly.”
So, those who are truly born of God (John 3:3) do have the power of God to
enable them to win in life.
They may not use that power, but it is there.
Christians shouldn’t deny this power by coming to the Lord as pathetic beggars.
This is baptism "into Christ" (Gal. 3:27; Rom. 6:2-8; Col. 2:12) and into His body (1Cor. 12:13), not a baptism into water.
Is Christ water?
If not, then this is not baptism into water, for it is into Christ.
b [put on Christ] To put on Christ means to be clothed with Him; to assume His
person and character; and to act the part and sustain the character of Christ in
daily life (Gal. 5:24; 2Cor. 5:17-18; Rom. 6:1-14; 8:1-13).
To profess Christianity is to take on the life and works of Christ, follow in
His steps, and do His works
(Jn. 14:12-15; 1Pet. 2:21; 4:1-2; Rom. 13:14).
