If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

According to 1 John 1:5, God is light. So, walking in the light is walking
in God.
Titus 3:5

The Lord sanctifies and cleanses us is through His Word. The Word of God
is the water that cleanses. Jesus spoke of the Word cleansing us in John 15:2-3
John 15:2.
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things
[God's promises]
will be added to you.
2 Timothy 2:21
Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a

This verse is saying that the way the Lord sanctifies and cleanses us is
through His Word. The Word of God is the water that cleanses. Jesus spoke of the
Word cleansing us in John 15:2-3
